From Tradition to the Future: Turkish Architecture

Turkish architecture has a deep-rooted history dating back thousands of years. Mosques, bridges and madrasahs from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods are the most important examples of this rich heritage. Mimar Sinan's works represent the peak of Ottoman architecture. Süleymaniye and Selimiye mosques are still standing tall with their perfect proportions and durable structures. Traditional Turkish houses stand out as structures that respect the natural environment with the harmony of stone and wood. Nowadays, we often come across projects that combine modern architecture with traditional elements. In such projects, domes, arches and decorations are blended with modern forms. Some new mosque projects in Istanbul are inspired by traditional architecture and redesigned with modern details. Turkish architecture combines the use of local materials and cultural elements. In the future, this harmony will continue to be an important source of inspiration for our architects.
